In any given year, these pictures are no big deal – people turn from the Stanley Cup in Florida Beach.
But, we are in the FREAKIN PANDAMIC – the numbers in FL are increasing – hence the weekend victory celebrations are now a major cause for concern.
The party was held at the famous Don Caesar Hotel in St. Pete Beach (22 miles from Tampa International Airport) – where the Tampa Bay Lightning Assistant. The coach had to spend his 1st day with the trophy after the team won the 2020 Championship.
Tampa Bay Lightning tells us the coach who won the trophy that day Jeff Halpern – Former NHL player who spent 14 seasons in the league before joining Lightning as an assistant.
You expect Halpern to learn after a setback from the previous one Stanley Cup celebration back in September – Everyone can take a drink when players send a trophy to random fans.

This time … we were told that the 44-year-old Halpern was having a private party on the beach with family and friends. Witnesses said there were about 50 people at Bosch and at least 3 different people from the Lord Stanley Cup.
Again, this happens all the time during the non-epidemic years – but as the COVID numbers rise, passers-by tell us they’m surprised by what they see … because it’s not visible because someone is trying to clean and disinfect the cup between drinks.
The FYI, Florida Department of Health on Sunday reported more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases – the biggest increase in months – along with 29 resident deaths.
The FDH reports that more than 885K cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Florida since the outbreak – more than 17 deaths.
We’ve reached the team – but so far, there has been no official comment from Lightning or the NHL.
