Switzerland: Four French men jumped from a balcony and died

Four members of the same family were killed Thursday when they jumped from the 7th floor of their apartment in Montreux, Switzerland, police said.

A fifth person from the same family was hospitalized.

The cause of the family tragedy, which took place this morning in Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva, is still unknown. But according to the first points, it also happened when the genders certainly went to this apartment for a school education problem for one of the children.

“Genders could not enter the apartment, and it was clear at the time that the family had decided to launch from the balcony down to the 7th floor,” Wade Cantonment police spokesman Jean-Christophe Soutrell told Swiss Public Radio RTS.

According to initial investigations, the two genders went to the French family’s apartment to “execute a warrant issued by the Prefecture regarding the home education of the children,” Ward Cantonal police said in a statement.

The father of a 40-year-old French man living in this apartment is related to the order.

Genders knocked on the door and heard a voice asking who was there. After announcing themselves, the gendarmes did not hear much noise in the apartment.

Unable to make contact with possible residents, they left the premises, but meanwhile, a witness called police to report that people had fallen from the balcony of the apartment.

The witness said “family members were there when he fell”.

Auxiliary teams intervened to take care of the witness along with the people affected by the tragedy, including various official respondents.

Subject to official recognition of the status quo and still in progress at the inquest, it appears that the five people who fell from the balcony were French nationals of the same family: four people who died because of the father, his 41-year-old wife, her twin sister and the couple’s 8-year-old daughter.

The 15-year-old son is being treated at a hospital as his condition is critical.

An investigation has been launched by the public prosecutor, who has assigned investigations to security police investigators to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the tragedy.

The presence of another person in the apartment during the facts may exclude the investigating state.

“The incidents took place behind closed doors. People in the apartment where the incident took place fell from the balcony. Whether it’s a fall or some other circumstance, it’s an investigation that will confirm it as much as we can, “Wood Cantonal police spokesman underlined on the radio.

“The whole neighborhood of the environment is surveyed to understand how this family lived and under what conditions,” he said.
