An Ontario couple who play the lottery became multi-millionaires after winning the $55 million Lotto Max jackpot in June.
Lauren Scheil and Dolton Hauck of Milton hope to be “regular people” before they win. But he wants to buy a house and a new boat and support his family.
“We want them to experience that happiness with us. They deserve it as much as we do. They don't have to work multiple jobs and they can now spend more time with their family,” they said.
After the draw it didn't take long to find out that Dolton and Lauren had won the jackpot.
“I don't know what I'm looking at; So I called Lauren to come over, Dolton said. I took her phone and told her to check the ticket herself. I'm looking to see how many winning tickets there are and I'm like, “That can't be!” I don't know what to do.”
“I stepped into the shower when I heard Dolton scream,” Lauren recalls. I thought something must have happened to him. He was shaking from head to toe,” Lauren continued.
She also remembers the gravity of the moment. “It was unreal. I was in shock, I was shaking and my mouth was really dry. The clerk was very nice and brought me a bottle of water.
Both Lauren and Dolton retired soon after discovering their winnings.
Shocked to learn that Lauren's career in logistics is coming to an abrupt end, her supervisor asks her if she won the lottery. “I couldn't help it,” she said with a laugh. My response was “Yes, exactly!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Convenience 4 U on Wilson Drive in Milton.
