Authorities at a German Red Cross vaccination center in Friesland (northern Germany) on Wednesday called for an emergency to test 200 vaccinated people for antibodies to find six who had not been vaccinated.

Police in Wilhelmshaven-Friesland said in a statement that they had begun an investigation into the physical harm caused by the nurse and stressed that saline did not cause any harm to health.

It is also common to dilute with a saline solution before giving the Pfizer-BioMtech vaccine.

The nurse in charge of making the injections accidentally dropped a pot of Pfizer-BioMtech vaccine.

She later admitted to using saline instead of a co-worker, and the co-worker sounded the alarm on Saturday.

“The woman said the reason for her action was not to tell anyone about the fallen bottle,” the police statement read.

Local authorities set up a call number for people who were vaccinated on the day of the incident.

“I am deeply shocked by this incident,” said Friesland Administrator Sven Ambrose, adding that authorities at the vaccination center have now introduced the “four eyes” rule.

In France, 140 patients who came to be vaccinated for COVID-19 on Tuesday at a vaccination center in the northeastern part of the country were mistakenly injected with a physiological serum (saline solution) instead of a dose of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine.
