A London company rebarring construction projects has been fined nearly 100 100,000 for two security breaches at its Macmillan Street facility.

AGF Rebar Inc. Pleaded guilty to two violations. A supervisor was fined $ 2,000.

In January 2019, the Ontario Ministry of Labor suffered a so-called “permanent injury” to a worker.

The worker rebar, the steel beams used to reinforce the concrete, is eaten into a machine and trapped when the person is pulled into the device.

The court found that the company and the supervisor had failed to ensure that the machine was fitted with a guard. The violation came with a 000 65,000 fine for the company and a $ 2,000 fine for the supervisor.

In December 2018, a worker was injured when a two-bundle rebar weighing more than 430 kilograms fell from a trailer.

The worker tried to jump out of the way, but was hit in the hands.

In that event, the material violates the rules to ensure that the material is kept or stored in such a way that it does not tip, collapse or fall off. It was fined $ 30,000.

The indictments were handed down Friday.

The court also imposed a 25 per cent victim surcharge, which goes into the regional government fund to help crime victims.
