The megabus will replace the Greyhound shutdown with better service

The day after the Greyhound announced the permanent termination of the rest of domestic routes in Canada, the passenger coach carrier megabus announced on Friday that it was setting up a new route between Ottawa and Toronto.

The new service with the carrier’s double-decker vehicles will begin on Thursday, May 20th. It operates from Thursday to Monday, with two trips per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, serving both directions in Ottawa, Kingston, Scarborough and Toronto.

In Ottawa, it departs from Saint-Laurent Station, east of the city.

Colin Emerson, vice president of carrier sales, told Global News‌ that the company is exploring options for another route east of the Canadian capital.

He added that the carrier’s Toronto-Kingston-Montreal and Toronto-Niagara Falls routes continue throughout the epidemic and that the company is fully committed to maintaining those routes.

Last Thursday, the Greyhound gave a definite end to the rest of the domestic routes from Canada to Quebec and Ontario “due to the continued decline in ridership”.
