San Francisco | Tens of thousands of Google services users reported outages to benchmark site DownDetector.com on Monday night, but the problem was quickly resolved.
“We are aware of a software update issue that occurred late this afternoon Pacific Time that briefly affected the availability of Google Search and Maps, and we apologize for the inconvenience,” said a Google spokesperson contacted by AFP.
“We worked quickly to resolve the issue and our services are back online,” he added.
“User reports indicate that Google Maps has had problems since 9:36 pm (according to the American East Coast time zone, which is Tuesday 01:36 GMT)”, the site Downdetector tweeted from Monday to Tuesday night.
In the United States, more than 40,000 people reported to Downdetector that Google was not working for them at 9:20 p.m., including in major cities like New York and Denver, Colorado.
After that the number dropped significantly within two hours. A small number of reports continue to be received, particularly for Google Cloud (remote computing) and Google Calendar.
