Silverstein Properties, the real estate developer of the World Trade Center towers, will set up shop in Montreal. The company hopes to set up a large research and development center called Inspire Labs, which will create 30 jobs in the city.
It is the first Canadian office for the company, one of Manhattan’s largest property managers. The company wanted to expand while maintaining proximity to New York.

Pool of qualified staff
The company is also looking for talent and has found an ecosystem in the metropolis to set up its hub.
“Montreal has many universities and computer science programs. The city offers a large pool of qualified, multilingual talent, including IT professionals and newly graduated students,” he pointed out.

Application development
In Montreal, the center is working to transform the application to manage the promoter’s 50,000 tenants as a personalized digital solution. Another project, called RTSP, targets companies looking to provide space for their staff during business trips.
No request for government assistance was made by Silverstein. But the company may benefit from certain programs, especially for research and development.
The leader of the company is reluctant to describe the level of investment, but it can be a strategic asset to the promoter.
“It will be our largest research and development facility,” Wiseman said.
