Pebbles, the world’s largest dog, died earlier this week in the southeastern United States at the age of 22, the Guinness Book of World Records announced on its website Wednesday.
This female fox terrier family has been fed cat food by her owners since 2012, which may have contributed to her longevity.
“Pebbles, the oldest dog in the world, sadly passed away naturally and peacefully, at home and surrounded by her family,” her owners wrote on Instagram.
This dog was born on March 28, 2000 in Long Island, New York and has lived mostly in the state of South Carolina. With her small frame and weight of 2 kg, she gave birth to 32 puppies in her life.
Pebbles was named the world’s oldest dog in May 2022 during a visit by experts from Guinness Book, the real organization that lists records in all fields.
According to her owner Julie Gregory, the secret to Pebbles’ health lies in grooming the dog, which she handles with “the utmost care.”
Country music lover Pebbles died five months before her 23rd birthday.
