The number of Canadians with chronic Covid is estimated at 1.4 million. Many of them say they have been let down by the system.

“It’s the worst situation you can have,” said one woman with the disease interviewed by TVA Nouvelles.
Until recently, she could barely walk.
“You lose your job, you have difficulty working, you are tired all the time. The world thinks you are depressed and doctors say it is mental,” she lamented.

She was diagnosed with chronic covid after consulting several specialists, but said she did not receive medical follow-up.
Thank goodness she can walk today. She had to take her own steps to find the necessary resources.
“These people are often depressed. When you have an excellent quality of life, you are very active, you work normally and regularly, and suddenly you are stuck at home with nothing to do, and this has lasted for two years, which is very difficult for patients,” said Dr. Alain Piche, microbiologist-infectious disease specialist and head of the COVID-19 post-disease center in Estrie.

Quebec has five reference centers and 15 specialized COVID-19 satellite clinics.
Waiting list times can extend between 8 and 12 months.
