The Conservatives’ so-called “more than 90%” plan focuses on “real national campaigning with digital marketing, messaging on social networks and mailing in every home”.
“This campaign attracts the patriotism of Canadians,” the Conservative Party said in a statement on Saturday.
As of Friday, 84% of Canadians aged 12 and over had received the first vaccine, while 77% had received their second dose.
The Conservatives say a rate of more than 90% could bring Canada closer to herd immunity to COVID-19, but the idea of herd immunity is largely unavailable due to persistent mutations in COVID-19.
To campaign there on Saturday in British Columbia, Mr O’Toole accelerated attacks on Justin Trudeau Liberals and called for early elections as provinces feared a fourth wave of pollution driven by the Delta variant.
“The other chiefs and I made it clear that the election in the midst of the epidemic was not the right one. Mr Trudeau did not listen [et] Thinks of himself before others, ”he struck.
The Conservative leader has called for a regular resumption of technical briefings on public health issues related to COVID-19. The briefing from the Public Health Agency in Canada took place on Friday, the first since the election campaign began.
“You have to provide information on a daily basis, whether it is positive or negative, whether it is good for the government or not,” O’Toole said.
The latter mocked Justin Trudeau’s approach to the strategy of persuading Canadians to vaccinate.
“Do we really want to approach public health issues with politics rather than science? As Prime Minister I want to unite ourselves, not divide ourselves,” he said.
Liberals have responded to the attack by reminding Erin O’Toole not to vaccinate his candidates, federal officials or passengers on planes, trains and cruise ships.
Conservatives support rapid screening tests for people who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
