Hairdressers, Tattoo Artists, Physiotherapists: Due to the increase in Kovid-19 cases, dismissal headaches have started again for professionals working with appointments.

“The really irritating thing is that it is often last minute [que les gens apprennent qu’ils sont positifs ou cas contact]So even though we have a waiting list, we can not fill the hole of the canceled appointment, ”laments Alexandre Anktil, co-owner of Bros. Hair Salon in Montreal.
Since the outbreak, it has been the same for professionals who provide services by appointment. With each new wave of pollution, terminations follow each other at a rate equal to the increase in cases.
But over time, the problem has intensified, some experts explain. According to Johnny Pierre of Studio Tattoo Shock, the phenomenon is widespread in Quebec as well.
“In one week, we canceled about ten appointments and two of our tattoo artists had COVID. Fortunately, many more people called us and allowed us to fill in the blanks, ”explains the person overseeing the reservation.
Revenue losses
When cancellations cannot be filled, it represents hundreds of dollars in lost revenue.
“For the past three weeks, it’s been canceled almost every other day. Fortunately, we ask for deposits, so it minimizes losses, but it does not cover a day’s work,” explained Paul Vernadon, a tattoo artist at Studio Zen Tattoo in Laval.
“A $ 200 deposit does not replace the 20 hours of work done for a design,” added Jean-Franకోois Trudeau, owner of Studio Zen Tattoo.
Towards the stadium Fiji-Osteo Clinic, in Montreal and Langueil, it is feared that sixth wave pollution will exacerbate the phenomenon, which has been unique since January.
“Of course this can have a financial impact on the clinic, but sometimes also on employees who finish early and work shorter hours,” said Operations Coordinator Analle Beaulieu.
The same is true for hair salons where stylists rent their work chairs.
“If the client does not come, the hairdresser loses money,” adds Alexander Anktil.
Kovid is not alone
The pandemic alone is not responsible for many last-minute cancellations, Feliceo Rousseau, the owner of a saloon by Lame in Montreal, has denied the allegations.
“Since we were able to reopen, people have been calling many salons to make an appointment and they will only appear to the person who suits them, but not to others,” he says.
