YouTube lifts broadcast restrictions on free music users

While YouTube is struggling to attract attention from music users, it is lifting the previous music casting limit on personal music.

One of the secret features of YouTube music is that it allows users to upload on their own Personal music collection for the service’s cloud locker. This means you can create playlists with music from your personal collection along with songs from the YouTube Music Library.

This feature gives users a lot more freedom to listen to music, but to this day, people who use the free version of YouTube music are not able to stream uploaded music to smart speakers. Now iOS and Android users can stream their own music without paying Google’s monthly fee.

If you try to stream a song from the YouTube music library, it will block you and say, “Only uploaded music can play on your speakers.” Note that Google will remove any streaming songs from your YouTube music queue if they are integrated with your personal library.

While this is a big upgrade for YouTube music users with large libraries, Google is still restricting free users from streaming free music. For example, if you ask Google Smart Speaker Play music from YouTube Music, which does so for free with ads And six skips per hour.

It looks like Google is creating this new personal library casting feature to please people who have recently switched from Google Play Music so the old service can do it easily. In the future, I would not be surprised if Google allowed people to stream any music from YouTube music, but changed it to a song-based radio station with ads and other restrictions.
