1,000 complaints of systemic racism filed in CIUSSS du Center-Sud de Montreal

The CIUSSS du Center-sud-de-l-de-Montreal-CSN workers’ union on Tuesday filed 1,000 complaints of systemic racism.

“Whether known or not, the employer state benefits from the social inequality premium against black women. The ghettoization of the job title depends on the imbalance between the requested tasks, the required skills and the salary offered,” union president Alain Croto underlined.

Women are “over-represented” in the positions of beneficiaries ’attendants and assistants to health services, indicating to the union that they are subject to systemic racism, shared Mr. Croto at Benoit Dutrizak’s microphone.

“No one will ask why 80% of beneficiary attendees are discriminated against,” he denied.

Each complaint requires a “complete systemic assessment by job title, department, directorate and job category” and “the implementation of supportive measures aimed at eliminating barriers to recruitment, promotion and the employee. Consider these workers’ salary ranking and actual skills required.”

Quebec Premier, Franకోois Legalt reiterated his stance on the issue on Tuesday: There is no systemic racism in Quebec.
