With interest rates, consumer prices and other everyday expenses rising, many have found ways to save money that can make all the difference at the end of the month.
We asked our Facebook followers if they found a particularly clever way to save money that most people don’t know about.
Here are some of your tips.
1- Coffee
It sounds crazy, but morning coffee is $80 a month for $4 × 5 mornings! – Atomize
2- Meals
I always eat out for work… $10 restaurant per day x 20 days = $200 savings per month! -Lucia
3- Hydro application
Hydro-Québec’s Flex D rate allows for significant savings in winter. – Nicole
4- Low drier
Reduce my electricity consumption. Less drier. No hanging clothes (I saved $12 a month with that). -Louis-Charles
5- Credit cards
Pay for everything with your credit card. You should pay as soon as possible to avoid interest. Many cards allow cash or RRSP rebates. I earn $500 in RRSPs every year because I pay with my credit card. – Ludovic
6- Repair instead of purchase
I’ll try to fix the broken one before I buy another one. I’ve had success 9 times out of 10 by watching tutorials on YouTube. I recently repaired the soles of my leather shoes myself. The material only cost me $20. – Mario
7- Discuss your salary
Discuss his salary. With labor shortages, employers don’t want to lose their good employees. When you negotiate, you always have a chance to win something, even if it’s not what you want. -Amelie
8- No impulse purchases
I put off impulse buys. If I want to buy something, I wait a week. If I still want to buy it a week later, I will. -Denis
9- Cook
I cook, I make my own food and my bread. I stay away from restaurants. I save a lot of money. – Karin
10- Groceries

11- Buy in bulk
I buy in bulk and for sale, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap. I keep the products in small containers for daily use. It cost me 50% less. – Cynthia
