Families in Quebec City have not yet received their first dose and can now benefit from “driving vaccinations” at Laval University for their car comfort.

All vaccination centers are currently operating at full capacity in Capitol-National. Over the weekend alone, at least 15,000 doses of vaccine are given.

Therefore the addition of a drive-through vaccine is part of the desire to increase the vaccine capacity of the area, but also to accommodate smaller families.

“We wanted to be able to offer this option to families who find it more difficult to manage their choice and to young people who want to be with their parents. It’s very easy,” said Patricia McKinnon, vaccine director at CIUSSS de la Capitol-National.

The decision was welcomed by many families on the spot. “We don’t really like the great outdoors, so it was practical and reassuring to get my car comfortable with my daughter,” said Nathalie Chenard, who received the first dose of the vaccine.

A maximum of 520 meetings have already been reached over the weekend and only a few more venues will be available next weekend. However, in view of the enthusiasm for this new service, additional appointments may be added.

“In total, it takes exactly 21 minutes to get vaccinated. Wait six minutes and 15 minutes for the process. No excuses for not getting vaccinated! », Jean-Tallon supports MP Joel Boutin, on site.

It should be noted that any of the rolls are accepted at this ephemeral clinic, be it car, van, motorcycle or bicycle. However, for drivers of these last two modes of transport, chairs are available to prevent the dangers of reacting badly to the vaccine.
