Summary
VICTORIA (News 1130) – The BC ferry was out of service after a mechanical problem and sailing between Sawassen and Duke Point was severely affected.
A key propeller on the Queen of Alberni was damaged and sailing was suspended until the damage was resolved.
Deborah Marshall with BC Ferries explains that passengers hoping to travel this route may be delayed for the next few days.
“We’ll definitely be running a ship, but you’d probably know about 50 percent of regular payments.”
At least six sailings are affected on Sunday.
Sailing includes:
- Twassen departs at 10:15 p.m.
- Departure from Duke Point at 12:45 p.m.
- Twassen departs at 3:15 p.m.
- Departure from Duke Point at 5:45 p.m.
- Twassen departs at 8:15 p.m.
- Departs from Duke Point at 10:45 pm
If you are planning a trip between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, Marshall suggests using Swartz Bay Tsavassen and Horseshoe Bay for the departure bay ferry in the next few days.
She also suggests checking out the BC Ferries website before anticipating your arrival.
