New Hampshire High School will raise ski graduates to the top of the mountain

A New Hampshire high school is planning a ski lift graduation, leaving a one-man festival with a coronavirus infection.

Seniors at Kennett High School will each take their diplomas on a ski lift, with an empty seat between each student, at the top of the 2,000-foot summit of Cranmore Mountain.

“People will ride it, get a diploma, get a picture of them on the top of a mountain, they’ll go elsewhere with a second photographer, and get a wonderful backdrop,” said school principal Kevin Carpenter in an interview. WCAX.

Students are invited alphabetically to climb a mountain that is expected to take 30 minutes for a graduate.

They follow the social distance rules by having an empty cylinder placed between each student.

“Everybody’s curious about this,” Carpenter said.

Of those 172 graduates who do not wish to ride a chairlift, they can get their diplomas at the foot of the mountain, which is located five miles north of the school.

Students are working on the soundtrack for the launch and are also interested in the masters car parade, Carpenter said.

“How awesome is it to live in a ski town and get to the top of a mountain and graduate with a wheelchair? This will definitely be a memorable day, ”said Granmore Marketing Director Rebecca Desenes Union President.

Students across the country are participating in virtual or altered graduation events during the epidemic.
