Several representatives of the party Cubacois mourned the death of former MLA Jean-Guy Para on Sunday at the age of 73.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Jean-Guy Para, who died after the fight against cancer. Jean-Guy was Pique’s deputy mayor from 1994 to 2003, then Paul Saint-Pierre Plumondon, head of the Sovereignty Structure, announced on Twitter.
“It is unfortunate that I learned about the death of Jean-Guy Para, Deputy Pascal Burube also wrote on Twitter. He was a charming and very committed man. An ideal activist for independence.”
Although he has not been a member for a long time, he has ties to elected officials because he is remembered as a PQ member for Jonquier Sylvain Goudralt.
“One man is completely dedicated to his area and the Quebec land. We have another good exchange this summer,” he said.
During his tenure in the National Assembly, Jean-Guy Para was chairman of the Public Finance Committee from 2002 to 2003.
After losing to Sylvie Roy from the L’Action Democratic du Quebec (ADQ) in the 2003 election, Jean-Guy Para served as executive adviser to CEGEPs of Drummondville, Trois-Riviers and Victoriaville.
He was President and CEO of the Foundation de l’Unlige du Quebec à Trois-Rivieres in 2010 and 2011, as well as the mayor of Saint-Pierre-les-Becketts from 2008 to 2013.
Prior to entering politics, Jean-Guy Para was the head coach of the Les Diablos football team at the Sgయిp de Trois-Rivieres from 1978 to 1983.
