A high percentage of Quebeckers are of the opinion that the government should try to improve the care provided to the elderly rather than investing in housing development for the elderly.
According to a survey by CROP, which was unveiled Sunday morning at the Central des Unions du Quebec (CSQ), 83% of Quebeckers believe that resources should prioritize improving health care services for seniors and 17% for developing new homes for the elderly.
This result shows that in the eyes of the CSQ, the preferences of the coalition Avenir Quebec are not correct.
“The population seems to understand that these seniors’ homes are so beautiful on paper, but they are likened to a mirage because they are not allowed to respond to the very many problems experienced in current organizations, ”the president declared. CSQ, Sonia Ethereum, by press release.
According to her, nursing homes will only benefit the lucky few, while other seniors will have to continue to deal with the situation in CHSLDs.
“When we know how severe the resource shortage is in the current organizations, there is reason to be concerned about the government’s stubbornness in creating a two-speed network for the accommodation of seniors and employees of the health network,” he said.
