In Cambrai, in northern France, the situation in hospitals is tense. The incidence rate is highest in the region, according to the Voix du Nord newspaper. So hospital staff are tailored to their patients.
At the Cambrai Hospital Center, health staff do everything to maintain contact between Kovid infected patients and their families. The system is currently in operation as the situation has not improved. “We are still practically among the 8 to 10 patients who come to the hospital every day, and we are well aware that 15% of these patients are at risk of developing severe forms. The situation at our hospital is still very tense,” explained Dr. Mustafa Hajjar, head of the intensive care unit.
Cambrai Hospital has grown from 6 to 22 intensive care beds, all occupied by Kovid patients. For nursing staff, the psychological burden is too much to bear. “We think about it when we return home unable to take advantage of our loved ones who are being held captive, so it can be complicated not to suddenly make up our minds,” explains Laura Marial, a nurse at the center. This healed patient realized the involvement of the nursing staff. “They are angels, always devotees”. Cambrai’s caregivers have dedicated more than a year of body and soul to their patients.
