Bamako | The Malian government announced on Tuesday that a Malian woman who was thought to be pregnant with septuplets had finally given birth to nine children, five girls and four boys in Morocco, an unconfirmed report toward Morocco.
Moroccan Health Ministry spokesman Rachid Koudouri told AFP he was unaware of the birth at a hospital in the country.
Originally from Timbuktu (north), Halima Sisse was cared for in Bamako and then transferred to Morocco on March 30. The Ministry of Health said it was “not normal” for better monitoring of the pregnancy.
Experts are concerned about his health and chances of fetal survival.
Halima Cisse gave birth by caesarean section on Tuesday to “nine newborns instead of the seven announced by the results of ultrasounds performed in Mali as in Morocco,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The mother and children are fine so far,” Health Minister Fanta CB told AFP, adding that he was informed by a Malian doctor who was sent to Morocco with his mother.
They come home in several weeks.
The minister said “Mali and Morocco medical teams are appreciated, their professionalism is the source of the happy outcome of this pregnancy” and she “wants a long life for babies and mothers”.
