Although the number of new infections has dropped to less than 1,000 in recent weeks, the toll appears to have stabilized.

According to Dr. Jean-Franకోois Liz, a pulmonologist and intensive care specialist at CHUM, this number will remain until the end of classes.

“When you look at the statistics in the last few days in Quebec, it’s about 40 to 50% of the cases reported in schools,” he said in an interview with LCN. So the curve we have now is a bit normal and I hope to stay in this number of cases per day until the end of school. “

Dr. Liz recalled that schools and young people were “a very important vector for broadcasting.”

If the end of classes can be rhymed with the declining number of cases in Quebec, the start of the academic year in the autumn should be a test to get back to normal life.

“The school year begins in September. A lot of viruses live in schools and especially the coronavirus spreads,” Dr. Liz said.
