According to one union, distance education is a far cry from destruction

Distance education does not give the expected results, far from it, recent research with students and teachers shows.

The Federation of Private Education Personnel (FPEP-CSQ) on Sunday released the results of a survey of 42 members from 17 different unions. Among the major ones are poor retention of student learning, reduced motivation to learn and increased workload for teachers.

For FPEP-CSQ, it is very important to be supportive of face-to-face instruction and to avoid the presence-distance alternative for students, especially those in the first two cycles of elementary school.

Executive committee member Mary-Josie Dollaire wants to use it only in “exceptional circumstances” such as the pandemic.

Ms. Dallair noted considerable distress among teachers, for whom “fatigue is at an acute stage,” she said. However, resignations among teachers do not increase as they remain in office in solidarity with their students.

“We have really increased the existing problems in our community. We have been asked more and more that people are overworked, which is a reality in the world of education. The pandemic has really become a priority. [ces] Problems ”, Judge Mrs. Dallaire.

At the same time, the union believes it is important to continue collecting data over the next few years to find and document the conditions under which technology has a positive impact on students’ academic engagement and success.

When asked about the relationship with Education Minister Jean-Franకోois Roberz‌, FPEP-CSQ expressed its incomprehensible sense of school awareness about the slowdown in vaccinating its members, as well as the lack of air quality certification.
