12 new cases of COVID-19 Monday

Public Health on Monday reported 12 new cases of COVID-19.

There are five cases in Zone 1 (Moncton area), five in Zone 3 (Fredericton area), and two in Zone 6 (Bathurst area).

There are 2,212 confirmed cases in New Brunswick. As of Sunday, nine people have recovered, for a total of 2,022 recoveries so far. There were 43 deaths and 146 active cases. A total of seven people were hospitalized. Six patients were hospitalized in New Brunswick, two of whom were in the intensive care unit. One patient was hospitalized from the province and was in the intensive care unit.

To date, 62.2% of the New Brunswick population aged 12 and over have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Public Health encourages all people 12 years of age and older to make an appointment by registering online to participate in the Vitalit Health Network Clinic or Horizon Health Network, or by contacting the participating pharmacy.

Appointments are currently available at the Regional Health Authority Immunization Clinics on Tuesday, June 1 in Woodstock, St. Stephen, Sussex, Oromokto and Moncton. Meetings are also available on Wednesday, June 2 in Edmundston, Moncton, Tracody and Campbellton; Thursday, June 3, in Saint-Quentin, Sussex, Corquet, Bathurst, Grand Manon and Moncton.

New Brunswick has decided to use its dosage until July 1, as Health Canada has extended the expiration date of thousands of doses of the astrogen gene vaccine by May 31 across the country. Of the 61,500 doses received by New Brunswick, 43,362 were given in the first dose and 651 in the second dose.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic

Neighboring Nova Scotia on Monday reported 17 new cases of COVID-19, all in the Halifax area, where community transmission of the coronavirus is considered limited.

The province has 448 active infections, 40 hospitalized and 16 in intensive care. As of Sunday, 583,873 doses of the vaccine have been given in Nova Scotia so far and 43,463 have received their second dose.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, two new confirmed cases were reported on Monday: a woman in her 50s from the Central Health Region, the introduction of a known case, and another 50, in the West., A case involving international travel. The province has 101 active infection cases and two people were hospitalized Monday.
