(Beijing) According to Chinese diplomacy, at a time when relations between the two major world powers are “at a standstill”, China has sent an ambassador known as the Quinn Gang to Washington.
Quinn, whose appointment has not been confirmed despite official rumors, arrived at JFK Airport in New York on Wednesday, where the Chinese embassy in Washington released photos of the new ambassador, disguised with a prominent agenda.
Mr Quinn described the new breed of Chinese diplomats as “fighting wolves” who are aggressive towards the West.
However, he compromised with his hosts.
“I will strive to build communication and cooperation avenues with all sectors in the United States and work to re-track China-US relations,” he assured, in a statement reported by his embassy.
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Xinjiang, the origins of human rights, trade, technology and COVID-19: There is no shortage of conflicting issues between the two major world powers and American President Joe Biden has not yet changed the policy of confrontation. His predecessor was Donald Trump.
On Monday, China issued official indictments against Washington’s policies when Biden-era U.S. diplomat Wendy Sherman visited the country for the first time.
Bilateral relations are “at a standstill”, his Chinese spokesman began, accusing Americans of seeing China as an “inary enemy”.
The new U.S. administration has not yet appointed an ambassador to Beijing, but press reports have reported the appointment of career diplomat Nicholas Burns.
