Quebec announces end of fiber vaccine deliveries

Fighting over the surplus dose, Quebec will go to the final distribution of the Pfizer vaccine in various parts of the province this week.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Health announced that if there is no change, the estimated 585,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine this week will finally be distributed through the Health Network.

Quebec now estimates that there are sufficient doses to keep 513,630 other doses of the same vaccine in reserve, which should be delivered by Ottawa next week.

“No other deliveries are planned at the moment. Other doses may be provided later if the situation requires,” the statement said.

At the same time, the government guarantees that current vaccine reserves will be sufficient to provide the first and second doses for latecomers, as well as for those who need a third dose after receiving two different vaccines, for example for travel, or in some special cases.

Quebec also announced that the in-company vaccination campaign was gradually coming to an end. The operation has already stopped at Cascade, Rio Tinto and Montreal airports. Other commercial vaccination centers will be closed in the coming weeks.

Surplus returned

More than 11 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Quebec since the vaccine campaign began.

Across the health network, there are currently over two million doses on the shelves. Their expiration date is usually in late October or later.

Doses with an initial expiration date are used first. Part of the surplus will be returned to the federal government, which will be able to redistribute them to other countries.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Franకోois Legalt recalled the importance of getting his two-dose vaccine.

“The recent increase in the number of cases is more worrying than anywhere else in the world. Be careful. We are going to announce new measures in the next few days,” said National Director of Public Health Dr.^R Horacio Aruda.

Both should soon specify the measures that will be in place at the beginning of the academic year.
