“It’s a beautiful day. I’m so happy to be able to bring the Stanley Cup to the village for the first time. People deserve it.
The little striker wanted to take advantage of the moment with many familiar faces. It is also an exceptional day and the opportunity to turn the page for the relevant principal.
“Tomorrow [mercredi], I think about Kraken and the future, but last but not least, today [mardi], I’m thinking about lightning. What we have been able to achieve in the last two seasons is very special. We are reassured. I’m not sure my physiotherapist would be happy to see me lift the cup, ”Gourde said with a big smile as he went under the knife for a left shoulder injury.
Blue tide
Most of those in attendance proudly wore blue glitter robes. No matter who you talk to, everyone is connected with a new member of the Seattle Kraken, the team that will make their NHL debut next season.
“I know him for sure. Her parents owned a local grocery store for a long time. I saw him play in his hockey debut. He always worked very hard,” said Sylvain Cox, the proud supporter of No. 37.
Another friend will add more soon.
“It’s ridiculous that the celebrations take place in the old open field. He often plays there with his uncles. He hits it so often,” said Jeff Laterr.
A model
As for Mary-Josie Flamond, she sees Gord as an ideal model for children ages 8 and 10.
“He worked very hard to get where he was and I want my kids to follow his example. When he succeeds, he still thinks of the people of Saint-Narcissus-de-Buriage.”
There are also a lot of kids who want to see the NHL player with the Stanley Cup. This is the case of 11 – year – old Emile Doan, but he has to admit Journal.
“He’s one of my favorite players, but he’s not my favorite. Alexander Ovechkin is my player. However, it’s very impressive to achieve everything he did.”
A big surprise
If Yanni Gourde gives his hometown the first prize in the Stanley Cup, it also has an important gift to give to the athlete. The mayor, Denise Dion, took advantage of the ceremony to officially name the infrastructure in honor of the local hero. Yanni Pumpkin Sports Center has now got a new name.
“Going offspring is a really great honor. Above all, I’m happy to be able to inspire young people to play sports. What I want is for there to be other young people in the village who can bring important trophies like the Stanley Cup. It does not necessarily have to be hockey. It’s important for young people to dream.”
