Paralympic Games: 4 x 100 m bronze medal at the pool

Canadian swimmers win a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay at the Tokyo Paralympic Games on Sunday with an impressive Aurley Reward.

Italy won gold, while Australia won silver. The winners covered the distance in 4 minutes 24.85 seconds.

The Canadian team – Reward, Morgan Bird, Katrina Roxanne and Sabrina Duchesne – finished the final within six seconds of the champions.

Reward Riley scored 58.10 after jumping into the pool in sixth place in the fourth leg of the final, far behind the leaders, some of whom had already started the 50m stretch. The day before, a Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu local won the 100-meter freestyle (S10) on Saturday at 58.60, setting a world record.

“The race was very exciting, it was a lot of fun,” Riverd said, whose comments were reported by Swimming Canada.

“This is a great time to share with the girls, I’m really proud of them, and I’m so happy to have contributed to Morgan and Sabi’s first Paralympic medals.”

This is the third medal for Rewards in Tokyo and also won bronze in the 50 freestyle (S10) earlier this week. Tokyo has four pool medals in Canada so far.
