Cesarean, Israel | The sword, found in the sea by a diver near the coast of Israel, is 900 years old and may have belonged to the Knight of the Crusader Brotherhood, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority (AIA).
An Israeli diver, Shlomi Katzin, found a one-meter-long knife completely covered in coral and shells with a 30-meter-long calf in a cesarean (northwest) on Saturday, but was “in perfect condition,” the report said. A press release from AIA.
The knife is “a rare and exciting discovery, according to all sources, it belongs to the Knight Crusader,” AIA official Nir Distelfeld said in the statement. “It’s fascinating to see such an object with knights, armor and swords going back 900 years to another era.”
The object was found in an area where underwater streams regularly move sand, which led to the discovery, said Kobe Sharwit, head of the underwater archeology department at the AIA.
Handed over to the National Treasury Department, the sword will be displayed to the public after it has been cleaned and analyzed, said AIA Director Eli Escosido.
