Carobins won the Dansmore Cup

Benefiting from an outstanding performance from pushing Bertrand Beaulieu, University de Montreal Carabins defeated Laval University Roose et Ore 28-19 to win the fourth Dunsmore Cup in its history at CEPSUM on Sunday.

After trailing 10-0 after a quarter, head coach Marco Ideloka and the team started five minutes before the first-year run-back half-time break.

In his fourth appearance on the field, the Blues attack traveled 95 yards. The series ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Seneca to Beaulieu.

Carabiners running back also found the pay zone in the first half dying moments. Sitting at their opponents’ one-yard line, they watched the winners jump over the scrimmage line to enter the middle finger which gave them the lead for the first time in the game.

Returning to this score, the University of Montreal delegation continued its success by recording another 14 points in the third quarter. Beaulieu took the opportunity to make another touchdown after catching a throw from Seneca.

The player ran 121 yards with his legs and finished his match-up with another 85 yards through catches.

For its part, Carabins’ defense made life difficult for quarterback Arnaud Deszardins in the second half of the game. Rouge et al’s pivot in particular saw one of his passes intercepted and hit three times behind the scrimmage line.

This victory for the Carabins was historic for the Montreal football program, as it was the first time he had won the Quebec Championship in front of his supporters. This is also the first time the Blues have beaten Roose et Ore three times in a single season.

The Carabins will continue their 2021 season by hosting the Uteck Cup. On this occasion, the champions of the Western League will visit CEPSUM on Saturday 27th November.
