Slovakia creates surprise and eliminates the United States

Peter Sehlaric was the lone scorer in the session to give his country victory.

The Slovaks worked hard throughout this meeting. When 17-year-old striker Juraj Slafkovsky missed the alertness of American goalkeeper Strauss-Mann, in the middle of the first period, they scored first. This is the youngest player’s fifth goal in the tournament.

Nick Abruzes, however, allowed the Americans to return to the game with a goal at the end of the first period to equalize the score. The second half saw United United take the lead with a goal from Sam Huntz.

Despite three shorthandings, the Slovak players moved forward relentlessly in the third period. Marek Hriwick sent everyone to Square One with just 44 seconds left.
