Second complaint against police officer Samuel Ducharm

Second complaint against police officer Samuel Ducharm

The second complainant alleges that he was assaulted by Sherbrooke police officer Samuel Ducharm, according to TVA Nouvelles.

Investigators from the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) reportedly submitted an investigation file to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) over the new complaint.

Samuel Ducharm was arrested on November 4. He is currently facing charges of sexual harassment. The alleged facts of this charge occurred in August 2021 when he was in office.

According to information from TVA Knowles, the second complaint led BEI to launch another investigation. This file is assigned to the DPCP, whose role is to determine if there is a reason to file charges.

This second complaint is based on allegations of acts of a sexual nature that took place a few years ago.

BEI and DPCP did not comment on this information.

In connection with the events of August 2021, the trial is scheduled for November 7, 2022 for three days. Until now represented by Me Dénis Gallant, Me Ariane Bergeron St-Onge is now in charge of the defense of a former representative of the Service de Police de Sherbrook.

The police officer will be suspended from pay at the time of the legal hearing.
