Convoy of Freedom: A huge bill for Ottawa citizens suffering from aggression

The occupation of the “Freedom Convoy”, which has been blocking downtown Ottawa for almost a month, will cost taxpayers $ 36.3 million, the city manager of Federal Capital estimates.

Of the police forces alone, no less than $ 35 million was spent by the Ottawa Police Service, of which $ 7.3 million was attributed to the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, according to City Councilman Steve Connellakos.

Although the city has invested $ 1.3 million in the file, there is no infrastructure repair, and Mr. Canellacos, who confirmed that the city of Ottawa is seeking reimbursements from top governments, also said.

The City Council will be asked to approve an income tax deferral program for businesses affected by the occupation, an Ottawa citizen reported.
