Air pollution: Shanimax blames the city

The Sanimax company, which has been accused of polluting the air in the Riviere-des-Prairies sector, believes it has done its part in recent years to improve the situation, accusing the city of Montreal of failing to take action.

Sanimax was responding to a call from Plante Administration calling for government intervention to end the company’s frustrations.

“This sudden position taken by the city of Montreal yesterday surprised us because it contrasts with the flexibility we are currently facing in expanding improvements to promote our coexistence with the Riviere-des-Prairies community,” the company wrote. A written statement.

The company points out that the action plan in Lewis was made possible due to the cooperation and dialogue between the participating parties. It said the city of Montreal had proposed bases for an action plan for the plant on the Riviere-des-Prairies.

“After more than two years of continuous change in governance at all levels, we have come out against a closed door. The unacceptable decision of the city of Montreal to endorse unproductive productivity and harm the main stakeholder parties,” the company noted.

For many years, residents of the Riviere-des-Prairies sector have been complaining about the stench emanating from the plant. It specializes in the recovery of dead farm animals, skins, organic matter and used cooking oils.

In January, the Superior Court found Sanimax guilty and appealed both verdicts, condemning it for polluting the air and water around its factory.

Riviere-des-Prairies – In the office of the borough mayor of Pointe-aux-Trembles recalled that the company was trying to make them invalid by not complying with environmental regulations.

“It is clear that Sanimax has no desire to meet the city’s environmental needs,” the mayor’s office said in a statement. The company says the city has been displaying flexibility as citizens have been complaining about odors for decades without any effective solution by Sanimax.
