Conservatives have mounted federal voting intentions

In the wake of the federal budget and the announcement of an alliance between the NDP and the Liberals, the Federal Conservatives have taken advantage of the support over the past few weeks.

According to a recent poll conducted by Nanos Research on behalf of CTV’s “Trend Line” podcast, the Conservative Party of Canada now has 35.6% voting intent, up 4.3 points in four weeks.

Liberals followed 30% voting intent, down 2.2%, while the NDP was satisfied with 19.6% support, down 2%, a poll released on Wednesday shows.

Greens (5.5%, + 0.7%), Black Cubacois (5.4%, -0.5%) and Popular Party (3.4%, -0.2%) did not differ much in their support.

“Conservatives are statistically significant, far ahead of the margin of error,” analyst Paulister Nick Nanos analyzed the results.

The traditional rise comes in the wake of a partnership between the Liberals and the NDP, with Jagmeet Singh vowing not to overthrow the Justin Trudeau minority government. Other issues, including the submission of the budget or the approval of the Bay du Nord oil project, have been in the news in recent weeks.

Polster has another idea to illustrate this popularity.

“In my experience, non-leadership parties are often more popular than leadership parties. There seems to be no repulsive effect, “said Mr. Nanos.

Keep in mind that the Conservative Party is currently led by Candice Bergen on an interim basis, but many candidates are vying for the leadership, including MP Pierre Poilievre and former Quebec Premier Jean Charest.

The survey was conducted among 1,084 Canadian adults and ended on April 22nd.
