American country music singer Naomi Judd, best known for the duo The Judd, formed with her daughter Vainona, her family announced Saturday that she has died at the age of 76.
Wynonna and her sister Ashley, an actress, shared their “deep grief” on their Instagram accounts.
“We lost our wonderful mother with a mental illness,” they said without further details.
Naomi and Vainona Judd formed as a couple in the late 1970s and won several awards, including five Grammys. Some of the mother-daughter couple’s most popular songs include “Love Can Build a Bridge,” “Mama He’s Crazy,” and “Girls Night Out.”
Although separated in 1983, the two reunited several times for tours and special appearances, but were officially terminated in 1991 when Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis C.
