“The most important thing is to protect the country from Donald Trump,” she declared in an interview that aired Sunday on ABC, adding that she “[prendrait] Decision on 2024 a little later”.

The 55-year-old has been accused of being at the heart of a “coup attempt” for trying to stay in power after losing to Republican billionaire Joe Biden as co-chairman of a select parliamentary committee.

“A man as dangerous as Donald Trump will no longer find himself near the Oval Office,” said Liz Cheney, assuring the Republican Party that the former real estate magnate’s new inauguration was “unsurvivable.”

“Those of us who believe in Republican principles and ideals have a responsibility to try to get the party back on track,” said the parliamentarian, the daughter of Bush’s former junior vice president, Dick Cheney.

Donald Trump, who retains a significant hold on the Republican Party, is openly flirting with a new candidacy, which some media outlets say could be announced by the end of the month.
