Tramway: Preparatory work on Chowdhury sector will begin soon

We learned in a press release issued on Tuesday that the work, which includes cutting down the first 14 trees, will enable the site to be prepared and the transshipment area developed in anticipation of the main construction site that will take off in September. in the morning

“This transshipment area will make the site operational and the Future Tramway Operation and Maintenance Center (CEE) announced in May to meet the deadline to carry out the preparatory work for the clearance and reforestation of the site. , we can read.

At the same time, the city also plans to combat Japanese knotweed, an invasive exotic plant in the area.

Massive deforestation

The first phase of the work, which will begin in September, aims to eradicate an area of ​​1.5 hectares previously used as a dump. Other afforestation work on an additional area of ​​3.5 hectares will begin in December and continue into 2023.

The city has already received all necessary authorizations from the Ministry of Environment to go ahead.

The city will also plant 1,200 avenue trees along with tramway infrastructure in the Chaudière sector.
