A New Zealand family was shocked when they discovered human remains in a suitcase found at auction.
The story was first brought to light by Newshub last Thursday when officers deployed several crews to the residence in the Auckland suburb. Two bags were seized.
The case is being treated as a homicide and how many bodies have not been recovered, but authorities are trying to identify the victims.
“The investigation so far has revealed [la famille qui a trouvé les restes de la victime] There will be no involvement in this incident,” Maunukau District Crime Officer Detective Inspector Tofilau Famanuya Waielua said in a statement.
According to local authorities, the gruesome discovery was made after auctioning off items in a warehouse.
In an interview with the “New Zealand Herald”, neighbors claimed to have been alarmed by the stench.
“I felt it. I thought it was a dead cat or something. They brought it back in the trailer. How could they not feel it?” said the neighbor.
According to Lance Burdett, a former police investigator, the perpetrator may have fled overseas, “but if he leaves a trail, someone’s going to brag”.
