A former Hydro-Quebec architect accused of accepting bribes for 16 years has finally pleaded guilty to corruption after more than two years of investigation and revelations from the Bureau of Inquiry.
“As a civil servant, he accepted a benefit or benefit in consideration of the effect of concluding business with the government”, one can read in the indictment against Guy Hut recently filed in a Montreal court.

Huet, 65, is a former architect who spent more than 30 years with the state-owned company and whose “philanthropic side greatly contributed to the architectural and urban planning successes at Hydro”, according to his relatives.

However, behind this enviable image, as revealed by our Bureau of Investigation in 2020, he may have set up a system of bribes. The founders paid him and in return, he ensured that they got contracts.
From 2004 to 2020, he rented cash or a barbecue, coffee maker and warehouse for his Porsche under a contract with Hydro.
“I offered [2000 $] Once”, an entrepreneur told the Bureau of Investigation. “I was there, then I was involved,” said another.
Huot was caught red-handed when businessman Andre Dansereau was secretly filmed giving him $500 in a restaurant to denounce this corrupt practice.
Since the Bureau of Inquiry revealed, Huot is no longer employed by Hydro-Québec. He was then a teacher at the Cégep du Vieux Montreal, but he lost his job.
And while he claims there are no criminal charges against him, things have now changed after the Sûreté du Québec investigation.
The day after he was fingerprinted at the police station, he was due to appear in September on fraud charges against the government.
In a separate report, businessman Andre Dansereau was also charged, but it would not be surprising if he reached a deal with the prosecution in exchange for his cooperation in exposing Huet’s alleged crimes.
