The member for Saint-Jerome was one of those absent during the swearing-in ceremony of the 30 members of the Cabinet.

In a message posted on social networks on Wednesday morning, the right-wing economist described it as a “step back” to “put things in perspective”.

“I won’t hide my disappointment at not being invited,” admitted Mr. Chasin.

Eric Duhaime, the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec, has suggested that Mr. Chassin may be courted to recruit him, as he did with Claire Samson, while the main interested party is expected to remain faithful to François Legault.

“The CAQ has a strong mandate to move Quebec forward. I am proud to be part of this team and like all CAQ MNAs, I want to contribute to this to the best of my abilities,” said Mr. Chasin wrote.
