(Washington) Former American President Barack Obama said on Friday that democracy is at risk in the mid-term elections to be held in the United States on November 8.

At a campaign rally in Georgia, conspiracy theorists urged voters to vote against the levers of power.
“We need to elect quality people to all the polling stations. Across the country, people who have tried to undermine our democracy are running for office to oversee the upcoming elections,” he said, addressing the crowd in suburban Atlanta.
“And if they win, we don’t know what will happen,” he warned.
In Georgia, two extremely close duels fueled by tens of millions of dollars captivated America.
Democrat Raphael Warnock, the first black senator elected in a state with a heavy segregationist past, is seeking re-election with Donald Trump and African-American former football champion Herschel Walker.
This election could determine which way the US Senate leans for the next two years.
Republican Brian Kemp is also in a tight race for governor against Democratic incumbent Stacey Abrams.
Obama also addressed the right to abortion.
“Women everywhere should be able to control their own bodies and have their own opinion,” he said.
Americans have already begun voting in elections that will determine control of both houses of Congress, as well as governorships in dozens of states.
Hundreds of other county and state seats will also be decided in the Nov. 8 election.
