Product recall: Salmonella bacteria in Shepherd’s pie

Shepherd’s pie made and sold by Premier Moisson Bakery in Plateau-Mont-Royal is being recalled because it may contain salmonella bacteria, which can cause salmonellosis.

The bakery concerned is located at 860 Avenue du Mont-Royal Est in Montreal. The product in question was 300g Shepherd’s Pie, sold from January 11 to 16, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) was informed through a press release.

The product is packaged in a black plastic tray, covered with a transparent plastic lid, and sold refrigerated.

“[L’exploitant qui procède volontairement au rappel du produit] MAPAQ has agreed with the City of Montreal’s food inspection department to distribute this warning as a precautionary measure. Additionally, people who have this product in their possession are advised not to consume it. They must return it to the establishment from which it was purchased or throw it away.

Symptoms usually appear 6 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food and usually last three to seven days.

However, no cases of illness have been reported so far.
