Drugged, she tries to open the emergency door mid-flight

A passenger under the influence of methamphetamine tried to open the emergency door of her plane as it flew over the Pacific Ocean on Thursday, according to the New York Post.

Police arrested a 26-year-old woman at Incheon International Airport after she tried to open the door of a Korean Air flight to Incheon, a South Korean city bordering Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.

According to American media reports, the flight was nearing the end of a 15-hour journey from New York, having departed at 2 a.m. the day before.

Witnesses told police she began showing signs of agitation about 10 hours after the theft began, and tried to open the door several times before being finally restrained by officers on board.

She later tested positive for methamphetamine, airport officials told Korean daily JoongAng.

Police reported that the woman entered the country after being in New York for more than six months and had no history of mental illness.

This is the third case of a passenger trying to open emergency doors on Korean planes this year, including a drugged-out 19-year-old man who was jailed for three years.
