You will now pay $150 per car from January 2025 instead of $59.
“This tax will simply contribute to the destruction of what is left of the middle class in the region,” Ludovic Griess-Ferland denied in an interview with LCN.
Although the mayor recognizes that there is a need for improvement in public transport, he does not agree with this approach.
“Right now in Quebec, we are facing a situation where our citizens are being suffocated by unprecedented inflation and rising rates,” Mr. Gris-Ferland noted. I feel like squeezing the lemon as much as possible.
“What you need to know is that this is a regressive tax,” he continues. So, a single parent who has to take these kids back to daycare pays the same amount as someone making $500,000 a year, and that really hurts our seniors who live off their savings.
