AMD has unveiled a new lineup of Raizen 5000 series processors for desktops, making it even more attractive for the AMD lineup. The chipmaker claims that the new Raizen 5900X is only “the best gaming CPU in the world” – that PC gamers will be interested to test.
They do not have to wait long. The first chips will come out on November 5th, with the basic Raison 5 5600X in the front row.
CEO Lisa Su took the stage during AMD’s online event on Thursday (October 8) to showcase the official CPU lineup: the AMD Raison 9 5950X model with 16 cores, 32 threads and a speed of 4.9GHz to 99 799, 12 cores with Raison 9 5900X, 32 threads and max 549 Maximum boost speed of 4.8GHz, 8-core Raizen 7 5800X, 16 threads and 4.44GHz maximum boost speed to ma449 and Raison 5 5600X with 6 cores, maximum speed of 4.6GHz for 129s and ost 299.
The new line guarantees the average performance improvement for most users, although the TDP and core calculations are still the same. 5000 series processors use AMD’s 7-nanometer process, with 19% increase in reference per cycle. You can expect these new chips to replace last year’s Gen 2-based Raison 3000 Desktop options, in terms of layout the chip is completely redesigned and speeds up.
During the reveal, AMD also discussed the benchmarks, revealing the best chips of the Raizen 9 5900X such as the Intel i9-10900K in titles such as Dota 2 and League of Legends, but there were two instances where Intel’s chip won instead. Since these are first-party benchmarks, we have to wait until the chips start to see how the performance really is here.
AMD claims that the 16-core Raison 9 5950X has the “highest single-threaded performance” of any desktop gaming processor, as well as “the multi-core performance of any desktop gaming processor”, which are Gate’s biggest words to issue.
In fact, Intel is already struggling with its new work 11th Gen Rocket Lake CPUs, These are currently in early 2021. Wccftech RocketLake processors are reported to be 14-nanometer chips, although they are powered by a different CPU core architecture. They hope to use the 10nm willow cove’s back port of Sunny Cove designs. Intel has not yet shared much about the new line.
As we get closer to Intel’s experiment, it should be interesting to see how the two lines compare. We will see a lot more from the company in the coming months.
