About thirty certified divers and volunteers conducted a cleaning operation in Chamblee Basin on Sunday morning.
The aim of this cleaning operation is above all to “depollute the basin”, but also to make it “increasingly swimming”, explained the mayor of Chambly, Alexandra Labe.

“We want to make sure we maintain this water quality,” she continues, adding that Chamblee Basin is open for swimming.

Tires, carpets, cones, bed bases… a lot of waste has already been removed from the Chamblee Basin.
“People are still walking on water and it's easier to throw a can in the water than it is to throw it in the canal,” commented operations manager Daniel Jordan. We want to raise awareness about the environment and give water back to swimmers.

The cleaning operation also involves raising awareness among the population about the importance of protecting the environment and water resources. “This waste did not get there by itself. You have to be careful and manage your waste in a good way,” said Mayor Alexandra Laub.
The Historical Society of the Lordship of Chamblee is also looking for old, potentially “historical” items, explained Vice President Andre Gousse.
