Nakhchivan is 40 miles from Nagorno-Karabakh and it is not clear whether the helicopter was involved in the shootout conflict.

The Ministry of Defense said the helicopter was accompanying the military convoy, but did not specify the purpose of the convoy. Russia has a large military base in Armenia, but is 90 miles from where the helicopter was shot down.
