[À VOIR] Offspring's SUV caught fire on Highway 20

The group will long remember its trip to The Offspring Bas-Saint-Laurent because one of its vehicles caught fire on Friday on Highway 20 near Rivière-Oille en route to Rimouski for a show on Saturday night.

“The call was made on Friday at 1:37 p.m. for a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder of the highway,” confirmed Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.

According to information provided by the group, the Chevrolet Suburban was unable to avoid an automobile part that fell onto the road, damaging the SUV and causing the fire.

Luggage, passports, laptops and almost everything else were destroyed, the group said in its social media post. What is verified by SQ.

The organizers also breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this news.

“We have no time to panic. We were quickly reassured,” says Marie-Pierre Mercier, Les Grandes Fêtes Telus media relations manager.

Sebastien Tremblay, one of the event’s promoters, was quick to reassure bracelet holders on social media.

” Sick ! But the offspring will be with us and they will be on fire,” he wrote, sharing a video of the burning truck.

Offspring drew a crowd of 3,000 for Thursday evening’s performance in Sherbrooke. The next day, he was supposed to go to Rimouski, but, according to our information, the tour group ended up sleeping in Saint-Pascal in Kamourasca because of this incident.

The California production of Great Telus Holidays is scheduled for Saturday at 10:45 p.m.

80,000 people pass through the Parc Beausejour site every year in four days in Rimouski. It is the largest music festival in Eastern Quebec.
